"Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world." - Dolores Huerta
The Winneshiek County Fair, funded by your tax dollars, which county supervisors just increased by 25%, has booked Confederate Railroad for their July 18 show. This band carries Confederate flags in its name and its logo. It has been dropped from fairs across the country since 2019 for exactly that reason. And now Winneshiek County is paying for it with public money.
DCIR has put out a full statement. We encourage you to read it and share it, and then take two minutes to send an email.
Email the Fair Board and demand they remove Confederate Railroad from the lineup: businessmanager@winneshiekcountyfair.org Subject: Please Remove Confederate Railroad from the July 18 Lineup.
The fair belongs to everyone in this county. That includes Black residents, immigrant families, and every person who has been told by Confederate symbolism that they don't belong. We will keep fighting until the band is dropped from the lineup.
